Hygienic Assessment of Vitamin Deficiency Risk Factors and Associated Clinical Symptoms Among the Adult Population of Fergana City, Uzbekistan: A Population-Based Survey Study

This study assessed hygienic and lifestyle factors associated with vitamin deficiency among adults in Fergana city, Uzbekistan. A cross-sectional survey of 520 residents aged 18–65 years was conducted in 2026. Dietary diversity, fruit and vegetable intake, sun exposure, supplement use, and symptoms suggestive of micronutrient deficiency were evaluated. Irregular consumption of vitamin-rich foods was identified in 62.5% of respondents, insufficient sun exposure in 58.1%, and chronic fatigue in 46.9%. Participants with poor dietary diversity reported significantly higher prevalence of hair loss, brittle nails, dry skin, and recurrent respiratory infections. The findings indicate that modifiable hygienic and behavioral factors play a substantial role in the development of vitamin deficiency risk among the adult population.
