Traumatology and orthopedics stand at the forefront of surgical innovation, driven by accelerating technological progress, a growing global burden of musculoskeletal disease, and evolving patient expectations. Musculoskeletal disorders now affect over 1.71 billion individuals worldwide, making them the leading contributor to years lived with disability globally. This review synthesizes current evidence across eight major domains: fracture management and fixation, minimally invasive surgery, robotic-assisted platforms, artificial intelligence in diagnostic imaging, regenerative medicine and orthobiologics, biomaterials and implant technology, polytrauma and damage control surgery, and digital health innovations. Key findings demonstrate that AI-powered deep learning achieves sensitivities of 89–98% for fracture detection, 3D-printed implants reduce surgical time by up to 25% with 95% survivorship at five years, and robotic-assisted systems are projected to reach an $8.3 billion global market by 2034. Regenerative modalities — particularly mesenchymal stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma — show clinical promise, though standardization remains incomplete. Damage control surgery yields up to 40% improvement in early survival for polytrauma. The convergence of these innovations creates an unprecedented opportunity for personalized, biologically intelligent orthopedic care, though regulatory, economic, and training barriers must be addressed to translate laboratory breakthroughs into equitable clinical practice.
